Abstract

The tremendous advancement in wireless communication networks like 5G and 6G requires high bandwidth capacity and high data rate transmission with a lower bit error rate. Free space optics (FSO) is a suitable wireless technology to implement the license-free spectrum and high bandwidth capacity with increased data rate in the modern wireless communication era. The stability of FSO depends on atmospheric turbulence. Due to turbulence, the transmission efficiency degrades, resulting in poor signal strength at the receiver side. In this comparative analysis, various weather conditions of MIMO-based linearly polarized FSO links (16 x 4 x 30 Gbps data rate) are examined with ASK, PSK, and FSK modulation schemes. The proposed system has been analyzed under four wavelengths of 750 nm, 850 nm, 1050 nm, and 1150 nm. The visibility range of the system has successfully extended up to 9.5 km in haze weather. For all four wavelengths, by adopting the three modulation techniques, a high range of Q factor, SNR, and minimum BER values is obtained under all weather conditions.
